规则与条例

a. General Terms:

1. Participation for Performance Live Fest is open to all nationalities and all ages. Please refer to the various categories for Music and Drama for the age range applicable.

2. Participants are responsible to ensure their availability for the published competition date/s.

3. All adjudicators’ decisions are final and not open for any further discussion.

4. All communication with the participants will be only via the email or contact number provided during time of registration.

5. The festival is open to public with a stated entrance fee.  

6. The organisers reserve unrestricted rights to the filming, broadcast, photograph or recording of the entire event. By participating in this event, the participants automatically provide permission for the organisers to use any footage which contains them.

 

b. Payment and Charges:

1. Fees are as listed on the website and shown clearly during the registration process.

2. All fees are not refundable. There are no refunds for withdrawals or participants who are absent at the event.

3. Any late entry, after the set dateline, will incur a penalty surcharge of RM100 per participant. The organisers reserve the right to refuse any late entries once the event documentation has been finalised.

4. Any amendments made after the registration is completed will incur a penalty surcharge of RM100 per participant.

5. Any certificate re-print will incur a charge of RM50 per certificate.

6. The organisers reserve the right to refuse any amendments request.

c. Choice of Drama repertoire

1. All pieces must be memorised.

2. All copies of the works must be submitted at the time of registration.

3. If two different works are presented during the course of the performance; a suitable pause is allowed between works. Due to logistical reasons, there may not be a fade to black after each performance.

4. Theme for the various categories are as stipulated below:

  • MIME: Choose one of – The victorious/ non victorious / moment in a sport / Making pancakes / My Little Secret

  • GROUP DEVISED DRAMA (Below 13 yrs old) – Either A Jungle Expedition or Locked in a Museum

  • GROUP DEVISED DRAMA (13 yr and above) – Either At the Supermarket or A surprise party

5. In Choral Speaking, the use of gesture, movement, props and sound effects is permitted but not obligatory. No conductor is allowed for Choral Speaking. For the other categories, the use of gesture, movement and props are integral to the performance.

6. In the drama categories, performers are allowed 30 seconds (at most) to set-up at the beginning and 30 seconds to clear at the end of the performance. Small props may be used.

7. Costumes may be worn but will not be assessed in the adjudication.

8. Any backing tracks for musical theatre or for sound effects must be submitted at the time of registration.

9. Musical theatre items may be performed with a backing track or a live accompanist – this must be stated at the time of the registration.  

d. Choice of Music Repertoire – for Music Grading Category

1. Participants must perform repertoire from one of the exam boards listed below:

  • Trinity College London

  • Trinity Rock & Pop

  • Rockschool Ltd

  • Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music

  • London College of Music

2. Both current and past syllabus repertoire is acceptable.

3. Performance for memory is not compulsory and will not attract any extra marks.

4. The music performance may be a solo with or without backing track. Any backing track must be submitted during the time of registration.

5. If the submitted work for performance has a backing track, the participant must perform with the backing track. Any such performance without a backing track will automatically be disqualified.

6. The existing backing track of an exam board cannot be changed / re-arranged / amended.

7. Drums:

i. Backing tracks with and without clicks are both allowed.

ii. Participants may choose to perform on either the digital drum set or acoustic drum set, both are available.

8. Guitar:

i. The category “Guitars” include acoustic guitar, electric guitar and bass guitar. Classical guitars are not permitted

ii. Any acoustic guitar must be electro-acoustic that includes amplification.

iii. All participants are responsible for bringing their own cable leads.

iv. The use of effects pedals is allowed. It is the responsibility of the guitarist to ensure the effects pedals are in good working condition.

9. Piano / Keyboards:

i. All classical music genres including Renaissance / Baroque / Classical / Romantic / Modern 21st / 20th century are NOT permitted.

ii. Styles of music permitted from any of the listed exam board repertoire:

  • Pop / Rock / Soul / Latin / Ballad / Contemporary genre.

  • Traditional jazz / boogie-woogie.

  • Movie soundtracks.

  • Anime / Games soundtracks.

iii. Solo performance or performance with a backing track is allowed.

iv. A full-size 88-keys digital piano with weighted keys and sustain pedal is available.

v. Electronic Keyboard exam repertoire from Trinity College London is permitted for this category.

10. Vocals:

i. All classical music repertoire including opera / operetta / oratorio / lied / chanson / traditional folk-songs / other classical music genres are NOT permitted.

ii. Performers may select musicals from any of the listed exam board repertoire.

iii. Other styles of music permitted from any of the listed exam board repertoire:

  • Pop / Rock / Soul / Latin / Ballad or Contemporary genre.

iv. An accompanist is allowed for the performance of the musical; otherwise a backing track must be played.

v. All vocal performances must be performed with a mic.

e. Choice of Music Repertoire – for Music Open Category

1. Participants may perform ANY piece of music, following the time-limit and age-limit stated:

  • Below 13 years old (as on the day of the event): max performance time = 4 mins

  • Above 13 years old (as on the day of the event): max performance time = 6 mins

2. Performance for memory is not compulsory and will not attract any extra marks.

3. The music performance may be a solo with or without backing track. Any backing track must be submitted during the time of registration.

4. In this open category, any cover version or arrangement of the music is allowed, so long as the performance follows the music score submitted during time of registration.

5. Drums:

i. Backing tracks with and without clicks are both allowed.

ii. Participants may choose to perform on either the digital drum set or acoustic drum set, both are available.

6. Guitar:

i. The category “Guitars” include acoustic guitar, electric guitar and bass guitar. Classical guitars are not permitted

ii. Any acoustic guitar must be electro-acoustic that includes amplification.

iii. All participants are responsible for bringing their own cable leads.

iv. The use of effects pedals is allowed. It is the responsibility of the guitarist to ensure the effects pedals are in good working condition.

i. All classical music genres are NOT permitted, with the exception of a re-arranged classical genre piece into a pop / modern / contemporary style, performed solo or with a backing track or on the electronic keyboard.

ii. Styles of music permitted:

  • Pop / Rock / Soul / Latin / Ballad / Contemporary genre.

  • Traditional jazz / boogie-woogie.

  • Movie soundtracks.

  • Anime / Games soundtracks.

iii. Solo performance or performance with a backing track is allowed.

iv. A full-size 88-keys digital piano with weighted keys and sustain pedal is available.

8. Vocals:

ii. Styles of music permitted:

  • Pop / Rock / Soul / Latin / Ballad or Contemporary genre.

  • Musical theatre works.

iii. An accompanist is allowed for the performance of the musical; otherwise a backing track must be played.

iv. All vocal performances must be performed with a mic.

 

f. Equipment list provided by organisers

1. The following equipment will be provided by the event organiser:

i. Drum kit – acoustic and digital drum set.

ii. Digital Piano - full-size 88-keys with weighted keys and sustain pedal.

iii. Cordless mic for vocals.

iv. An X-stand for electronic keyboard. (the electronic keyboard is NOT provided)

iv. Guitar amp and Bass amp.

2. The following equipment will be provided by the event organiser (for DRAMA):

i. Two chairs and a small table.

3. Participants are required to bring their own (for MUSIC):  

i. Drum sticks.

ii. Guitar cable, guitar picks and effects pedals, as necessary.

iii. Electronic Keyboard with pre-set registration. (Only for electronic keyboard participants)

4. Participants are required to bring their own (for DRAMA):       

i. Small props as necessary for the staging.

ii. Specifically for mime – a large placard displaying the title of their performance.

 

g. Right to disqualify or reject

1. The organisers reserve the right to reject any registration due to, but not limited to, the following:

i. Submitted a non-exam song for the music grading category.

ii. Re-arrange a backing track or did not perform the work listed during time of registration.

iii. Not submitting or submitting a wrong backing track or incorrect music score.

iv. Selected a classical music genre in the Piano / Guitar / Vocal category.

v. Submitted a drama or music work which is over the permitted time-limit in the open category.

2. Any rejected registration before the stated dateline will be refunded with a RM20 admin fee.

3. Any performance disqualified during the event itself will not be refunded.  

4. Disqualification may include, but not limited to:

i. Performing a different song / piece / drama work from what was submitted during registration.

ii. Performing without a backing for music works which comes with a backing track.

iii. Vocal singers performing without using mic.

iv. Not bringing their own instrument – such as guitar or electronic keyboard for the performance.

v. Absent during the performance time allocated.

5. Performers that are disqualified for any of the reasons above may be allowed to still perform and receive a certificate of participation. But there will be NO medal given. The adjudicator report will state the reasons of the disqualification.

6. Any performers who are still absent at the end of their respective sessions will forfeit their entry.
